Meet the Founder

Hi, my name is Nancy, and I am the Founder of North Pocono Yoga. I am so excited to welcome you to North Pocono Yoga in Moscow, PA. I participated in the 200 Yoga Teacher Training Program with Akasha Yoga Academy, Ubud, Bali and I am a RYT-200 Certified Yoga Instructor registered with the Yoga Alliance. I will be a lifetime student of Yoga and I am currently continuing my studies with Akasha Yoga Academy working toward my RYT-500.  I am also a Reiki Master and a Crystal Reiki Practitioner.  I also hold a certificate in Yoga Nidra.

In the past, my career was mainly in business, but I had the yoga universe planting seeds in me as long as I can remember. In my early years, I would practice Yoga postures regularly, not really knowing they were yoga postures. I had been drawn to meditation in many ways throughout my life, always finding comfort when times were difficult, or I was having health issues.

My first introduction to yoga and a yoga lifestyle was in the early 90’s. A friend of mine taught a yoga class at her home. It was a wonderful class and she truly lived by example. I was very fortunate to be introduced to Yoga in this way. I moved away and was not able to attend her classes, but I found a video by JJ Gormley. I had two small children at the time and this video was able to provide me with many yoga classes from the comfort of my home. I loved the many classes she had on this video and her teaching style. I was not able to practice as much as I would have liked, but I did notice that in times of difficulty, I would find comfort on the mat.

My love of meditation over the years was done mainly on my own at first, based on any information I had at the time. I was able to learn more about meditation by doing most of the Deepak Chopra 3-week meditation programs he would have. I did the first one and I was hooked. Right from the start he was able to teach many things I had questions on, and I was able to take my meditation practice a little further. I did not practice as much as I wanted to, but I did always return to it when life was difficult or if I had health issues.

As part of my journey for health and wellness I registered to take the Yoga teacher training program at Akasha Yoga Academy. It proved to be more than I ever expected, and I am ever so grateful for the teachers and mentors at Akasha. I have learned so much from them and I look forward to learning so much more.

The universe worked through me and lead me to open North Pocono Yoga. I look forward to working with the community, providing a safe and welcoming environment for us all to work on our health and wellness journeys together.
